HISTORY
The recognition of the need for the training of committed Christian workers and the Lord’s answer to the prayers of the pastors and believers have resulted the starting of the Southern Bible School at the Assembly of God church building, Marthandam in 1987 [SBS]. The opening service was conducted by Rev.J. Devadhasan, the District Superintendent.
Southern Bible School in its early stages, offered a two year course, Certificate in Theology. The Bible school was moved to its present location Kalluvilai, Mulagumoodu in 1990. The Diploma in Theology (formerly Graduate in Theology) course was introduced in 1993, and the Bachelor of Theology course was started in 2001 and thus it became college from school [SBC]. M.Div class was started in 2013.
The extension centers [evening study centers] were started to train lay men for the ministry. Moreover B.Th in the evening study centers were started in 2014, April viz Housing Board [Nagercoil], Cheruvarakonam, Attoor [Thiruvattar], Banswara [Rajasthan], Doha[Qatar] and Vellore, and Chittoor, Andra Pradesh [2022], then the name was given as Southern Bible College Extension Study Centers. The Lord has blessed us with spacious campus with new facilities and the well experienced team of faculty. Our college functions under the guidance of the Board and the Southern District Council.
